Grok Downloader release notes
This record separates features implemented by the website from successful access to Grok’s media. A supported workflow still depends on the original platform making the source available to guests.
17 September 2026 — Initial English release
- Individual public Imagine post links are checked for a video source, with an image fallback when no video is provided.
- Source downloads and previews are implemented. Applicable conversions include video to GIF, MP3, or first-frame JPG and image to PNG, JPG, or WebP.
- Batch checks accept up to 10 links and provide individual results. Successful sources can be packaged into a ZIP within a combined 200 MB limit.
- Short-lived results, conversion progress, light and dark themes, device guides, and contact reporting are available.
Verification and limits recorded at launch
The tested Grok share page was readable, but its video delivery server returned HTTP 403. A successful Grok media download was not confirmed by that example. The service returns a restriction error rather than claiming the file is ready.
Sources are limited to 200 MB, conversion processing to 10 minutes, and active conversions to one. Sessions and temporary converted downloads expire after 10 minutes. Grok prompt extraction, chat export, watermark removal, upscaling, and a frame selector are not implemented.
